First cast; rainbow trout
During the day I asked Jeff to fish tonite for Rainbows. When we got on the Saco River, Jeff said we should get one on the first cast and told me where to cast. Believe it or not I caught my first beautiful Rainbow trout on the first cast on a Red Quill again. Also caught a number of Brownies so I have complete catching all the North Country fish: Brook, Brown, and Brook trouts, a Land Locked Salmon, and a Small Mouth Bass. Jeff aught at least 10 Rainbows and Brown Trouts. One Rainbow did the tail dance, what a site. Incredible night of fishing.

First Land Locked Salmon

I decided to go up North to Pontook Dam on the Androscoggin. Caught my first Salmon on a Red Quill fishing it just under the surface. What a beautiful fish, even jumped a couple of times, about 1 foot.
Got up early the next morning and tried a bead head prince nymph. Caught a real nice brookie and a small mouth bass. I can't wait to get another Salmon on line.

Great evening of fishing the Ellis on another hot evening, but this time in a very isolated spot. Got a really nice size brookie which I had for breakfast this morning.

Nymphing th Ellis May 23rd
Jeff has been teaching how to nymph, read a river, read the hatches, select the fly. You gotta think like a trout basically. After 3 tries, landed 2 brookies on my own in the Ellis River. On the river by 6:00 am this morning, great time of day. Fish and eggs for breakfast, Barb made blueberry scones and home made English muffins.

Fly fishing weekend with Agiocochook

I never thought I'd ever catch a fish on a fly rod. Have had equipment for several years and each year got discouraged and quit. Discovered Jeff Swayze and Agiocochook Fly Fishing and after one lesson on casting, I limited out on brookies on my first trip out in his canoe.
Jeff is an incredible instructor with many years experience in local woods and waters. Jeff gave me the perfect fly to use, a gray ghost he had tied, and did a great job canoeing me to the perfect spot to catch my first fish on a fly ever.
